Create an Account

You can begin creating an argument map without an account. To save maps and use other account-based features, you need an Argumentation.io account with access.

There are two principal ways to obtain an account with access:

  • Create an ordinary Argumentation.io account, then subscribe or redeem a code.
  • Sign in through an institution that provides institutional single sign-on. Your institutional access supplies the account and access, so you do not need to create a separate Argumentation.io account first.

Create an ordinary account

  1. Open Main Menu.
  2. Select Login/Create Account.
  3. Enter your email address and a password in the Login/Create Account window.
  4. Select Create New Account.

After you log in, your account email appears in the information panel in the upper-right corner of the workspace.

Add access to an ordinary account

Creating an ordinary account does not by itself enable saving. After creating the account, either:

  • Purchase an individual subscription, or
  • Redeem an Argumentation.io code.

An ordinary account with a subscription or redeemed code—and an account supplied through institutional access—can save and load maps, share maps and snapshots, export maps, enable real-time collaboration, and download With Good Reason.

Instructor features are not enabled automatically through any of these routes. They require a separate instructor redemption code.
